Paws for thought 💭

I have always had the passion to work with animals since an early age. I have grown up living with different pets across the years. I have owned Guinea pigs, a hamster, cats and a dog. 

I started my animal career in year 10 of secondary school when a Level 2 Animal Care course was offered as a GCSE substitute. Every week I travelled to college and learnt about the basic needs for pets and how to undergo animal husbandry tasks. Once I completed secondary school, I went onto studying at Halesowen college where I expanded my knowledge on a 2 year BTEC Extended Diploma in Animal Management Level 3. I thoroughly enjoyed this course and gained valuable hands on experience across a multitude of different animal species. I learnt the basic needs for all animals, completed husbandry tasks as well as learning how to handle different animals correctly and safely. I achieved a really high passing grade and progressed my studies at university. As part of my college course, I had to complete 100 hours of Work Experience. In my first year I had a placement at Wombourne Vets and my second year I was at the Wild Zoo Bobbington. Here I developed and put to practise my skills in a professional environment. 

I graduated from the University of Wolverhampton sept 2022, with a 2:1 classification in BSc Hons Degree in Animal Behaviour and Wildlife Conservation. To bridge a gap in my knowledge, I decided to undertake a CPD accredited Diploma online course in Dog walking and pet sitting. Pet First Aid was covered within this course.
